- Cle de Peau Brilliant Enhancer,
- Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush on Glow BB Pen,
- La Prairie Light Fantastic
- YSL Touche Eclat
TL;DR Summary: All of these pens have their uses, but the La Prairie pens are the only ones I've used up completely and re-purchased. Much of it depends on finding a color in the range that suits your needs.

REVIEW: Cle de Peau's Brilliant Enhancer is a strobe pen - not a highlighting pen in the same sense as the others. The highly pearlized cream at the 12 o'clock in the picture below, proves it. It does however feel absolutely beautiful. It smooths the skin and blends into any product over it, or underneath it. It is perhaps not as subtle as other products, closer to YSL's Strobe Touche Eclat pen, but it is still very useful in my toolbox. And when it runs out - I'm keeping it the empty pen for the brush. This is, strangely, one of the best brushes I've found in a highlighting pen. Cle de Peau's pen is the most expensive per ounce of all of the pens, so it might not be the first one I reach for in terms of every day use. But when I'm especially tired and my skin really shows it - Cle de Peau's Brilliant Enhancer leaves my skin feeling better, as well as looking better.
Estee Lauder's Double Wear Brush on Glow BB Pen (8 Colors)
Details from Estee Lauder at Nordstrom ($29 for 0.07oz ($414.29 per 1 oz):
REVIEW: Estee Lauder's Double Wear Brush on Glow BB Pen 0N Soft Pink: The most matte textured and most longwearing of the highlighter pens. Worn under my concealer, it set and did not mix with my concealer, which can be a very good thing. On me, the color runs shimmery pink-peach and is flattering, if a little light and shiny on it's own. I like it better under my makeup than over as it runs just a little shimmery for me.What it is: A long-wearing BB highlighter that brightens, perfects and corrects your skin, leaving it feeling soft, comfortable and smooth.Who it's for: Anyone who wants a luminous finish.
What it does: Its lightweight, moisture-fresh formula wears for up to eight hours and features Photo Optic Technology, which brightens shadows and helps erase the look of fatigue while highlighting your facial features. The color-true formula minimizes imperfections including blemishes, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles, and won't settle into skin.
How to use: Twist the bottom of the applicator to dispense the perfect amount of highlighter into the brush tip. Apply where desired. Gently pat with your fingertips to blend.
- Fragrance-free.- Dermatologist tested; ophthalmologist tested.
La Prairie Light Fantastic Cellular Concealing Brightening Eye Treatment (3 Colors):
Details from La Prairie at Nordstrom $80 for 0.15oz ($533.33 per 1oz):
REVIEW: La Prairie's Light Fantastic in 10 - a light cool pink. I actually own all three colors in this pen because I find the formula so easy to use and the colors so flattering. The 10 is a light pink brightener without a strong shimmer. So I can put on top of my makeup or underneath it and it blends seamlessly. It also makes my skin feel quite soft and smooth, much like the Cle de Peau formula. The 20 is a basic ivory shade, and 30, which I use most often, is a beige that works beautifully to touch up over any undereye concealer I wear during the day. It has slightly more coverage than YSL and Lauder's versions, and is very buildable - though not quite buildable enough to work as a concealer on its own. My favorite time to use this pen is when I've had to use very heavy and/or longwear concealer under my eyes, which can leave the skin around my feeling very dry and tight. I dab a little bit of cream from this pen and the crepiness, dryness, and tight feeling is gone instantly - all blended away and refreshed. Each stroke of Light Fantastic Concealing & Brightening Eye Treatment brightens, refreshes and illuminates the skin around the eye area as well as anywhere on the face while concealing imperfections. This complexion corrector makes it easy to banish those dark, under-eye circles, uneven skin tones, fine lines and puffiness while showcasing and highlighting the areas you want to call attention to including cheekbones, chin and forehead.
This multitasking concealer is formulated with a highlighter and a powerful anti-aging complex for serious eye treatment and is offered in three creamy, natural-looking complexion tones. Every stroke is a stroke of genius as the softest brush applicator delivers the silkiest application, putting the right amount of light exactly where you want it!
- Includes two refills (0.085 oz. each): one in the silver wand and a second refill enclosed with the item.
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Radiant Touch #1 Luminous Radiance (12 Colors ):
Details fro La Prairie at Nordstrom $42 for 0.1oz ($420 per 1oz):
REVIEW: YSL's Touche Eclat 1 - This iconic pen now comes in many colors, and often has varying seasonal cases. But be sure to check the ounces before you buy - sometimes the seasonal case, such as this Spring's "I'm not a morning person" pen, is 0.08oz instead of 0.10oz. It seems a tiny difference, but it annoys me when the "grocery shrink ray" hits my favorite cosmetics!Like a touch of magic, it adds unparalleled radiance to your skin. A take-anywhere pen-brush for adding a touch of light or banishing shadows and signs of fatigue from the eye area, the hollow of the chin, the contour of the lips and the sides of the nose.
How to use: Apply on bare skin or over makeup, then blend with the fingertips for instant radiance and freshness.
- 0.1 oz.
- Suitable for all skin types.
- Shade 4 has been renumbered to 6.5 Luminous Toffee.
- By Yves Saint Laurent; made in France.
This has sheer coverage, but is also buildable and blends well into other products when you need it to. When worn under concealer or foundation, I find I either need to wait for it to set completely, or set it with setting powder or it will blend with my other products and change the color. That can be ok if you plan for it, but it just doesn't give me the texture or colors I need to as useful as the La Prairie in that regard.
Reminder: All but the Cle de Peau at 12 o'clock are called "Pink".
